On April 15, 2024, Prof. Ren Xiangshi, a foreign academician of the Japan Academy of Engineering, the fellow of the Japan Society for Information Processing, and a lifelong professor at the School of Informatics, Kochi University of Technology, visited the research group of Academician Guo Shuxiang at the Southern University of Science and Technology.
During the visit, Prof. Ren delivered a keynote lecture on the topic of “Human-Engaged Computing”. In his presentation, Prof. Ren proposed the conceptual framework of Human-Engaged Computing (HEC). This approach breaks free from the constraints of Western technological paradigms and centers around human values. By integrating Eastern perspectives, it aims to create an ecosystem of collaboration between humans and machines. Additionally, Prof. Ren emphasized the importance of a holistic approach that combines internal and external knowledge, fostering mutual growth for both humans and machines. The intersection of technology, culture, and human-centered development is a fascinating field, and Prof. Ren’s insights contribute to advancing our understanding of this domain. |
